How To Start The New Year Off Right

Mikala Morgan Avatar

Y’all, we made it to 2021! 😭🙌 This past year been such a whirlwind and I am thrilled to have a fresh start in the new year!

…But just like most people, planning and sticking to resolutions that I set for myself is not always as easy as expected. However just because goal-setting isn’t easy doesn’t mean it’s not possible!

Here are a few tips to keep in mind to start the new year off right:

Reflect and let go

2020 was a historical year and it’s only natural that we all take the time to reflect on the heartbreaks, tragedies, happy moments, surprises and more that occurred. We are a all human and it’s ok to realize that some times things are not ok. But we are still here for a reason, and although it’s important to reflect, it’s also important to let go of things that you can no longer can control, both emotionally and physically to move forward. Visualize your goals

Writing down your goals for the new year is just one step, visualizing them is the next. Science has proved for decades that your mind can’t differentiate between when you are actually doing something vs. your imagination thinking that you are doing something and the more you imagine yourself living your dream life, the closer you are to actually living it. So picture yourself driving that new car, starting that dream job or moving to that big city – it works! For an added boost you can create a vision board of what you want to achieve in the next year. Change your habits

Habits are what make or break us in life and most people don’t realize how the little things can add up. The new year is the perfect time to make a list of the habits you want to form and those you want to give up. Start by making a list of small goals that you can meet each day for these and slowly but surely, you will notice a difference.

Hold yourself accountable

Make it a point to check in with yourself weekly or monthly to see where you are in meeting you goals. You are your biggest enemy and supporter, don’t let yourself give up so easy.

Don’t be so hard on yourself

You will mess up and that’s ok. If we’ve all learned anything from this past year it’s no matter how bad things may get, there’s always a reason to keep the faith. So remember to practice self-love and don’t be so hard on yourself. You got this!

Bring it on, 2021!

Xoxo,

Mikay
