How is it almost March of 2020!?!
It’s mind-blowing to me to think back on all of the experiences that I’ve had in the last 10 years, both personally and professionally! 😲
As I continue to grow in my professional career, I have come to realize that one of my favorite parts about working in this industry is developing strategies that are catered to each client to help them get the most out of their online presence.
When it comes to marketing your business, a lot has changed in the last decade – and I mean A LOT! What worked 10, 5 or even last year is not guaranteed to work now when it comes to growing your business.
Here are some tips that I recommend anyone looking to market their brand or business online keep in mind:
Content, Content, Contenttttttt 🙌
Since the beginning of marketing times (if that’s a thing 🤣) coming up with a strategic plan for content has always been necessary, the only thing that’s really changed is how people interact and how people consume (which I discuss a little further below). But content must be a first and foremost goal, because how can you begin marketing your business without first developing the messaging?
Do your research and then do it again
It’s pretty common knowledge now that brands and businesses struggle with sharing content online that is both personal and sales-y. No one wants to feel like they are being sold to 24/7 which is why users expect personalized content that speaks to them when visiting a business’s website or social media. Take the time to research your prospects to know what resonates with them and then implement that into your content strategy.
Video and Voice
I’m sure you have heard times and times again that both video and voice is where the future is headed and that’s for a good reason! How people consume content is something every business needs to keep in mind when developing a strategy that increases your ROI.
The numbers, just like Shakira’s hips, don’t lie
Do not underestimate the power of reporting! Though it may not sound fun, looking at the data is crucial to measuring the success of your efforts. Not to mention, with larger platforms like Google and Facebook consistently updating their tools the amount of information we have available for free about your target audiences and performance helps marketers make good decisions.
Bottom line: Put yourself in the shoes of your potential clients and customers. How do you find other businesses online? What do you like seeing on their websites and social media? And always keep in mind: people buy from people, not businesses.
